BIO

Kimberly Young knew at an early age that being on the stage and in front of the camera was what she was destined to do. At 6 years old, after receiving a Karaoke machine for her birthday she became obsessed with performing in front of large audiences. She then began rounding up her classmates to perform, dancing and singing, in various school functions. At age 9, she participated in a mandatory poetry contest at school. The 4th graders had to perform and memorize a poem. Kimberly persevered to the semi finals, then to the Finals to compete against the 5th and 6th graders. Kimberly won for her category: comedy, and she won for her grade. It was then she realized her life’s ambition. The following two years, Kimberly won the overall competition.

Kimberly’s talent continued to grow and thus she continued to seek opportunities to perform and schools to train in. She went to Los Angeles County High School of the Arts for her ninth grade year and then moved on to Las Vegas to continue her High School education and performance opportunities. Kimberly went on to NYU to pursue a drama degree, specializing in musical theatre, with additional focuses in film and improv.

Kimberly is now a proud founding member of the new theatre company, The Movement, which mission is to reshape the views and images of minorities in media. In addition, the proactive woman that she is, decided to create her own work. Kimberly, along side her very good friend, Syhaya Smith, has created a film production called Sassy Koolade Productions. Its primary focus is creating a sketch comedy TV Show that the two of them are also writing, casting, directing, and producing. This show's primary goal is to showcase women behind the scenes and in front of the camera, relating a message to viewers that women can be simultaneously funny and attractive. Kimberly is a very intelligent, creative, and talented individual. At the moment, she is following God and staying within His Avenue of Blessings.
